Milo's communication corner

Milo does not like to use his words. He thinks they can be misunderstood more easily when he speaks. He prefers to use British Sign Language or to write in his notepad. In "The Rainbow Ward: Operation Dragon", Milo notices the Morse Code in the light because he likes observing patterns - but also because he is familiar with other types of communication.
Around the world, there are many different forms of communication that does not involve spoken word. These are sometimes called AAC or "Augmentative and Alternative Communication."

Augmentative means increasing or adding something.

Alternative means 'in another way'.

Communication is how you share information, ideas or feelings with other people.

AAC can come in many forms. Some people may use paper, pictures, tablets or other technology to help them. Other people may just use their own bodies; through sign language, facial expressions or other movements.

If you are interested in learning AAC, there are a lot of courses available online. But to get you started, here are two basic information sheets from Milo's preferred methods of communication.
